The heart of the Heat stays in teal. Jimmy Peirson has signed on for another Big Bash season, his 13th in Brisbane colours.
That’s 124 games for one club, more than any other Heat man. Peirson was the first male player to pass 100 games for Brisbane. Only three current one-club men in the whole league have played more: Jordan Silk (141) and Ben Dwarshuis (129) of the Sixers, and Ashton Turner (141) of the Scorchers.
Why this matters
Peirson has captained the side and he’s closing in on 2,000 career runs and 100 dismissals for Brisbane. You don’t replace that kind of club knowledge with a new signing.
His form is strong too. He just scored a century for Queensland in his 100th first-class game, so this isn’t a loyalty deal for an old player. The gloves are still sharp.
He’s the kind of player fans don’t think about until he’s gone. For the Heat, this was an easy call. The club confirmed the news in their official announcement.

Who else is in the Heat’s BBL 16 squad?
Usman Khawaja and Michael Neser are back, along with young quick Callum Vidler. England’s Tom Curran and Kiwis Bevon Jacobs and Tim Robinson are the new faces.
