Sydney Sixers have pulled off a smart signing. New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert has joined them for BBL|16 after being the standout player of The Hundred 2026.
Seifert, 31, was the tournament’s best player in England’s Hundred this year, scoring 394 runs. The highlight: 72 off 38 balls with seven sixes in the final at Lord’s. That’s the kind of knock that wins finals, and exactly why the Sixers moved for him.
Why this deal matters
Seifert arrives in career-best form: 90 T20Is, 2,279 runs at a 146.4 strike rate. Sixers boss Rachael Haynes called him one of the best T20 batters in the world game. He also gives the Sixers a proven keeper-batter, something every T20 side wants.
And here’s the extra angle. The Sixers took him from the Renegades, where he’d played all 20 of his BBL games and scored a hundred — only the second in club history after Aaron Finch. The Renegades had to respond by signing Jonny Bairstow. The Sixers didn’t just get a match-winner. They left a rival scrambling.
Who replaces Tim Seifert at the Renegades?
England’s Jonny Bairstow. The Renegades signed him to keep wicket after losing Seifert to the Sixers.
Can the Sixers sign another overseas player?
Yes. Only Seifert and Jordan are confirmed overseas players, so one international spot is open.
What’s Seifert’s BBL record?
20 matches across BBL|14 and BBL|15, all for the Renegades, including one hundred. This is his second BBL club.
