Two seasons ago, Chris Jordan broke Sydney Sixers hearts. Defending seven runs in the final over of the BBL|14 Qualifier, he closed out the game and handed Hobart Hurricanes their first Big Bash title. Now he’s a Sixer again.
Jordan has signed back with the Sixers for BBL|16 after three seasons in Hobart. It’s a return: he wore magenta in BBL|11 and BBL|12, and has now played for five BBL clubs — the Sixers, Hurricanes, Strikers, Thunder and Scorchers.
Why the Sixers did it
New coach Matthew Mott wants proven nerves at the death. Jordan’s league-wide name is built on it: calm final overs, smart slower balls, and a record of winning tight games. He slots into a pace group already led by Ben Dwarshuis, Fergus O’Neill and Sean Abbott.
Here’s the fun part. Jordan joins Tim Seifert as the Sixers’ only two overseas players. They can still sign a third. That final slot is the one to watch.
