Sydney Thunder meet Brisbane Heat in WBBL|12 Match 6 today at Drummoyne Oval, Sydney. First ball is at 9:40 AM PKT (3:40 PM local, 10:10 AM IST).
Thunder started with a win. They chased 139 against the Renegades on opening night, with Anika Learoyd’s 48 and Georgia Voll’s 25 doing most of the damage. Thunder wrapped it up in 17 overs. That’s a confident start from a side many tip to go deep this season — read more about Thunder’s opening-day win.
Heat lost a heartbreaker on Friday. They posted 154/5, thanks to Georgia Redmayne (58) and Charli Knott (57), but the Sixers stole it off the very last ball in Heat’s last-ball loss to the Sixers. The Heat’s wait for a WBBL win now stretches past 700 days. They need this one badly.
Watch out for India’s Yastika Bhatia. She signed as the injury replacement for Jess Jonassen (hip) and joins the squad in Sydney this weekend. If she plays today, it’s her Heat debut. She is the only Indian in this season’s competition (Brisbane Heat announcement).
Heat’s spinners, led by England’s Sarah Glenn, hold the key. If they keep Thunder’s batters quiet early, this drought could finally end. The live score updates right through on bbl.today’s live score page.
